Dear SFO members,
The late Norman Marr resigned his position as President of the SFO just a few short weeks before his passing in June 2015 and it was my sad duty to take up the reigns following nomination by Aberdeen and District Organists’ Association in July and subsequent installation by the SFO committee at their September meeting in Perth.
We have been further challenged this session with the retiral last May of our charming secretary Bridget Black after 10 years of sterling and devoted service to the SFO. I am delighted now to be able to put forward the name of one of Aberdeen’s own members for nomination to this vital post at the next SFO committee meeting on 19th March 2016, and hopeful subsequent ratification at our SFO AGM on 7th May 2016.
It has of course been a privilege to chair these SFO committee meetings in Perth this 2015-16 season on your behalf and I’d like to thank both our sub-committee in Aberdeen and the SFO committee for their support, understanding and encouragement over the session.
Aberdeen and District Organists’ Association are delighted to be hosting the Conference this year over the 6th and 7th May, and it has been an exciting project to organise this event. It is with pleasure therefore that I attach our Invitation and Registration Form, where you will find full details and timetable of events. Much hard work has gone into planning by all members of our local sub-committee, and I invite you now, please, to come and join us in Aberdeen for what I’m sure is going to be a most enjoyable occasion. It would indeed be a fitting tribute to Norman if as many as possible could attend this event – which he after all initiated.
