The Friends of the Caird Hall Organ invite you to a special commemorative recital that is to be given in the Caird Hall, Dundee at 7.30 p.m. on 11th September 2015. The event marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Alfred Hollins, the celebrated blind organist and composer who designed the magnificent Caird Hall concert organ.

The recitalist will be the distinguished blind organist, David Aprahamian Liddle (http://davidliddle.org/). He has put together a most appropriate programme that includes pieces by Alfred Hollins (A Song of Sunshine, Morning Song and the Concert Rondo in B flat). There will also be music by William Wolstenholme who, like Hollins, was born 150 years ago and was blind, as well as pieces by Bach, Lemare, Saint-Saëns, and Widor. David will also play several of his own works including compositions based on the Eriskay Love Lilt, the Skye Boat Song and the psalm tune St George’s, Edinburgh (“Ye gates, lift up your heads”), the last of these reflecting Hollins’s long tenure as organist of St George’s Church, Edinburgh.
